From simple classroom demonstration monitors that take an hour to build, to weather stations and soil moisture sensors for the school garden, fieldwork or NEA projects, there are a multitude of environmental sensors from the open source FreeStation initiative that teachers can build and use. This webinar will show you what you can build, demonstrate how to build and use a simple classroom demo unit, and how you can use FreeStation for teaching geography and skills. There will also be a chance to ask questions to get you started on your FreeStation journey.

Speakers

  • Professor Mark Mulligan, King's College London
  • Dr Arnout Van Soesbergan, King's College London
  • Sophia Burke, AmbioTEK

For more information about FreeStation, see www.freestation.org/edustation. Note that although classroom-based DIY building is aimed at teachers of students aged 16+ or university level, younger students will also benefit from using the equipment for their studies, including for example for geography fieldwork.

This webinar is part of the ReSET research project.
