The Nuclear Security Culture Programme is holding a third online workshop on the fundamentals of physical protection, focusing on the various nuclear threats posed by non-state actors and measures to mitigate them.

This six-day course, held in two parts from 5-7 July and 12-14 July 2021, is sponsored by the UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and endorsed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

  • Sessions are adapted to an online teaching format, spread over a period of two weeks.

  • Interact virtually with a diverse group of global experts in the field of nuclear security.

This workshop is especially relevant to individuals working for nuclear and radiological operators, regulators, government and research institutes. Ideally, participants will have at least five years of professional experience and a basic knowledge of nuclear security.

  • Information management and cybersecurity,

  • Nuclear and radiological materials,
  • Nuclear security culture,

  • Testing and evaluation of physical protection systems,
  • The relationship to safety and safeguards,
  • Threat assessment and design basis threat (DBT),
  • Vulnerability assessment.
