Kimberlé Crenshaw coined the term intersectionality in 1989 and within a year Yvonne Rainer had brought out this experimental documentary on the subject. Starting by exploring the menopause and the silence that often surrounds this part of the female ageing process, Rainer opens up the documentary to explore the way prejudices and privileges intersect and suppress certain experiences.
