This lecture explores the developments of cultural and creative developments in Latin America and is being led by economist Ernesto Piedras Feria.

Ernesto is the author of the book 'What is the value of culture? The economic contribution of copyright industries in Mexico'. He is Director of The Competitive Intelligence Unit, (www.the-ciu.net), a strategic consultancy specialized in market and regulation of infrastructures, telecommunications, and information technologies. He is also Director of Nomismæ Consulting (www.nomismæ.net), dedicated to the economic analysis of the Cultural Industries in Mexico and Latin America. He has held various positions in the telecommunications industry, as well as in public administration, in the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, Secretariat of Programming and Budget, Federal Electricity Commission and Presidency of the Republic.
