Abstract
Jon Hook will talk about a number of recent projects that he has been involved in relating to responsive video media and its application to address societal challenges. He will describe research exploring how responsive videos -- that can change their content and structure depending on who is watching them and what they do -- might be harnessed to help people understand the data that is around them, to represent experiences of mental health in more nuanced ways and to help patients make decisions about complex health needs. He will also talk about Cutting Room, which is a Unity-based open source toolkit for creating responsive videos that he is involved in developing with collaborators at York's Digital Creativity Labs.
