At the Forum in November
The Home Care Research Forum provides an opportunity for researchers, people working in the field and others with an interest in homecare to gather and discuss current exciting research and to establish new networks and connections.
Talk 1: Promoting uptake and continued use of social care in people with dementia who live alone and have no informal support (SuCeed)
Dr Claudio Di Lorito (NIHR ARC North Thames, Division of Primary Care and Population Health, UCL)
People with dementia can live alone successfully even when they do not have support from family or friends. However, they can find it more difficult to find out about, start using and continue to use social care services that might help them than those who have informal support. This study aims to identify examples of support to start and continue to use social services offered to people with dementia who live alone and do not have informal support and develop recommendations for best practice.
Talk 2: Co-adapting an evidence-based nutritional intervention to support people living with dementia receiving home care
Dr Gladys Yinusa (NIHR DEM-COMM Fellow (NIHR ARC Wessex), Bournemouth University)
Gladys will share how an existing nutrition intervention was co-adapted for use in the home care setting through collaboration with people living with dementia, family carers, home care workers, and sector stakeholders from across England. The TOMATO project offers new evidence-based nutritional care resources for family carers, friends, and home care professionals to support people living with dementia at home.
