Welcome to the CMCI Winter Festival: “Hope in Creativity”! A Celebration of Culture, Creativity, and Student Talent.

King’s College London’s BA Culture, Media, and Creative Industries program proudly presents the annual CMCI Winter Festival: "Hope in Creativity", a vibrant three-day celebration showcasing the incredible talents of our students and exploring the transformative power of culture and creativity. Join us from December 11-13 at the Inigo Rooms and Learning Centre, Somerset House East Wing, for an immersive experience filled with exhibitions, artworks, workshops, performances, and much more.​​​

This year’s festival promises a diverse range of creative expressions, with 21 unique events that span various forms of media and artistic disciplines. The CMCI Winter Festival is free to attend, but spaces are limited. We encourage you to reserve your tickets now to secure your place at this inspiring celebration of creativity.

Opening Ceremony

Childhood Echoes

We’re celebrating the essence of being a child and reflecting on how our younger selves would be proud of who we’ve become. In our exhibition, we aim to explore the profound impact of childhood on our identities. While society often dictates how we should be, it’s vital to recognize that our early experiences significantly shape who we are today. Tickets are available here.

Transformed

“Transformed” is a short documentary screening and participatory photo exhibition which addresses the impact of migration on identity. A thought-provoking interactive experience, we invite audiences to engage in the conversation as we collectively explore the diverse stories of migrants in London and share and reflect on the personal journeys undertaken in this new city. Creative Healing

Welcome to our journey of creative healing for mental well-being!Here, we invite you to explore a variety of therapeutic activities through fun and engaging interactions. Broken But Together

Broken But Together is a participatory event that addresses the growing sense of loneliness in London by bringing people together to create a collective mosaic from broken ceramic tiles. Join us for a transformative event celebrating self-love and acceptance! Perfectly Imperfect

Join us on a journey of acceptance and freedom, breaking down body anxieties and celebrating the beauty of diversity. Cloud Nine

Cloud Nine is an immersive art exhibition designed to explore how diverse cultures intertwine with the concept of nightmares, encouraging visitors to reconsider their relationship with dreams from a multicultural perspective. Tickets are available here.

We encourage everyone to join us on our mission to challenge stigmas and misconceptions surrounding themes of girlhood. Join us at our event to have your voices and stories heard, learn more about themes of girlhood, and enjoy seeing your very own images that represent your view of girlhood displayed all over the walls! Ten Knives

Created by a dedicated team from China, our exhibition blends traditional headdresses with modern art through immersive sculptures, digital pieces, and interactive photography, honoring the resilience and wisdom of Chinese women. Every artwork here can tell a story of silent resistance and the power of beauty. Insideout

Life often presents us with complex emotions such as anxiety, anger, sadness, and fear. Learning to accept, understand, and release these feelings in a healthy manner is essential for achieving inner harmony. Through this program, you’ll embark on a complete emotional journey: connecting with the true presence of your emotions, understanding their origins, and discovering constructive ways to release them. Expresso Yourself

Join us for the Expresso Yourself workshop, where creativity and sustainability meet to give new life to everyday waste! In this hands-on event, we'll be using coffee grounds to create natural soaps and scrubs. Tickets are available here.

The Me in ME

Join us for “The me in ME”, an exhibition dedicated to exploring self-identity and intersectionality. In this immersive experience, “you” are the creator. Using materials like cotton, each participant adds their unique story to our “Me Map,” a growing tapestry of personal experiences and shared meaning. Green Threads

Through the fashion exhibition, our mission is to enlighten the audience about the environment impact of the fashion industry and how the concept of sustainability can be realised in an ever-changing world through the recycling of used clothes from daily life. Sustainable clothing brings a powerful sense of hope to the creative industry by inspiring a future where fashion, art and design positively impact the world. Tickets are available here.

Beyond Borders

Coming to this diverse environment of London, it is particularly important to explore the sense of belonging and community among international students. Our event focuses on how these students continuously discover their community in London as well as forming a sense of belonging here. Tickets are available here.

Re-Flourishing

It is an exhibition and workshop uses Ronghua 绒花, a traditional Chinese technique, as a medium to critically examine the relationship between third-world’s tradition and fashion under Eurocentric and postcolonial fashion theory. We would like to invite the audience either to make Ronghua themselves and combine with Eurocentric fashion or visiting our display and exhibition about the topic to question the dominance of colonial influences on fashion, while celebrating and revitalizing traditional craftsmanship within a modern context. Our ambition is to uncover the potential and innovative spirit within these traditions, redefining “fashion” as a rebuke to the dominance of European fashion culture, fostering new cultural movements, and exploring possibilities for decolonization in contemporary society. The Coral Collective

Come and join us for an immersive, multi-sensory journey through the vibrant underwater worlds of the Indian and Pacific Oceans. Ready, Set, Play

We invite you to ‘Ready, Set, Play’, an immersive exhibit which explores how childhood play inspires shared empathy and bridges cultures around the globe! Join us as we transform the space into a kindergarten classroom, where you will be able to embrace nostalgia and rediscover the joys of childhood toys and games through various displays and interactive elements. With Every Grain

This exhibition incorporates a custom documentary, inventive projections, multi- sensory installations and featured artwork,all curated to honor food heritage and inspire a deep appreciation for the roots behind every flavor. BACKSTAGE

BACKSTAGE is an exhibition that explores the stark contrast between the glamorous 'façade' of high-end fashion and the gender inequalities that persist behind the scenes. Through runway show projections, immersive storytelling, and impactful statistics, the exhibit reveals the harsh realities faced by women garment workers, prompting audiences to confront the darker side of fashion.
