Speaker: Professor Eileen Crimmins, University of Southern California

This seminar will provide insight into the process and variability in the process of health change with age. Building on the idea that similar mechanisms promote the process of ageing and should underlie the major health outcomes related to ageing, we develop a novel measure of Biological Age incorporating some newly available age-related indicators of physiological status. We examine the links between this multi-system measure of biology and differential downstream health outcomes. We then examine the associations of race/ethnicity, SES, adverse lifetime experiences, risky behaviours, genetics markers with Biological Age, and multiple health outcomes.

A reception will also take place shortly afterwards, outside Lecture Theatre 1.
