The Departure Lounge was created to start public conversations about the end of life. The project began as a pop-up shop in Lewisham shopping centre and expanded into nationwide media campaign, events, policy and more. Modelled on an airport lounge, the installation combined travel metaphors with information and stories about death and dying.
The conversations we had, along with social research commissioned from Ipsos MORI, helped us understand what people know about dying, where they get their information, and how they think we should support them. In this seminar, we share our learning on why and how to communicate the science of dying.
