In the second 'How to...' session of the academic year, we will be exploring the huge diversity of roles for anyone who wants to make an impact through world-leading research. In this session, we will explore:
- What happens to the discoveries academics make - how is this knowledge translated into real-world impact?
- What are some of the roles in supporting, steering and shaping this research, or even making it possible in the first place?
- What are some of the skills and knowledge I can be developing and showcasing to find roles that will make an impact in the field?
Our alumni speakers
We will be joined by three graduates of King’s who are now working across the sector:
- Verity Buckley (MSc War and Psychiatry, 2013) is now the Research Impact Lead for the Faculty of Natural Mathematical and Engineering Science (NMES) here at King’s. Verity supports researchers to maximise impact through effective research project design, stakeholder and public engagement, and knowledge exchange
- Katarzyna Ciazynska (MSc Biochemistry 2018) is a Senior Editor at Springer Nature. Kat works on selecting, editing and publishing research articles, bringing groundbreaking research to the wider community.
- Karine Madoian (MA Arts and Cultural Management, 2015) is the Engagement Manager at the Royal Society. Karine manages the delivery of the career development and engagement programme for the Society’s funded researchers.
The session will last 60 minutes, which will include a structured conversation followed by an opportunity to ask your own questions.
