About the speakers
Ignacio Garcia Bercero (EU) is a principal advisor at DG Trade. He was the EU‘s Chief Negotiator in the negotiations with the US (TTIP), with South Korea and with India. He joined the European Commission in 1987 and took part in the negotiations of the WTO Agreements. He holds a law degree from the Universidad Complutense (Madrid) and UCL.
Dr. Hye Min Lee (South Korea) is a senior advisor of Kim&Chang. He served as Deputy Minister for Trade and was South Korea‘s Chief Negotiator for the FTA with the EU and deputy Chief Negotiator for the FTA with the US. He also was Korea‘s G20 Sherpa. He joined the Korean Foreign Service in 1980 and after his work as a trade negotiator served as Korea‘s Ambassador to France. He graduated from Seoul National University and received a Ph.D. in Economics from Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne.
Charles (Chip) Roh (USA) is a retired partner at Weil. Before joining a law firm he served as Assistant USTR for North America and in that position was the Deputy Chief Negotiator of NAFTA for the USA. As legal counsel for the USTR Mission to the GATT he represented the US in GATT dispute settlement proceedings. He holds an A.B. from Princeton University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
Professor Debra P. Steger (Canada) is an emeritus professor of the University of Ottawa. She was the first Director of the Appellate Body Secretariat of the WTO. She served as Canada‘s Senior Negotiator on dispute settlement and the establishment of the WTO as well as Principal Counsel to the Government of Canada for all of the Uruguay Round agreements. She graduated with an Honours B.A. from the University of British Columbia and holds an LL.B. from the University of Victoria and an LL.M. from the Unviersity of Michigan.
The panel will be chaired by Dr. Holger Hestermeyer, Shell Reader in International Dispute Resolution (KCL) and Director of the King‘s Forum on IDR.
