Ella (@big_science_energy on TikTok) and Beibei (@dermatology_demystified on Instagram) are part of a new generation of scientists disrupting the way that we engage with science.
With a combined 123 000 followers between them, Ella and Beibei will talk about what led them to using social media as a platform for #science, how they found Insta and Tiktok fame and how punny paper titles, 'slugging', the babbling of baby bats, debunking skincare myths and zombie ants are bringing the wonderful world of science to your #fyp.
Speakers:
Dr Beibei Du-Harpur is a doctoral training fellow split between the CSCRM and the Francis Crick Institute. Her PhD project combines skin biology and single-cell transcriptomics to understand structures in the skin related to acneiform conditions.
Ella-Louise Hubber is a PhD student on the Wellcome Trust Cell Therapies and Regenerative Medicine Doctoral Training Programme at King’s College London. She is in the final year of her research studies in the Department of Diabetes.
