Title Investigating cell-cell and molecular interactions at the epicardium-myocardium interface to promote cardiac repair

Host Fiona Wardle

Abstract The Vieira group uses mouse genetics, human ESCs, and cutting-edge molecular (e.g. scRNA-seq, ATAC-seq and CUT&RUN) and imaging approaches to gain mechanistic insight into normal heart development to ultimately identify molecular targets to promote regeneration in the (adult) diseased heart. Briefly, we aim to understand interactions at the epicardium (heart outermost layer)-myocardium interface that support growth and maturation of cardiac muscle, in particular how cells from the epicardium undergo epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition to support organ development and function.
