King’s is home to over 30,000 students from at least 150 different countries, and how you fit into our diverse community is important to us. It can be overwhelming meeting so many new people but here at King’s we find value in seeing the world through the lens of other people in all their diversity – and that is why cultural competency matters.

Cultural competency cuts across many different levels, including:

• Understanding our own identity;
• How we relate to others;
• How we think about belonging;
• How we can make a positive impact in the world.

During this interactive session, we will introduce students to what we mean by cultural competency at King’s and provide a preview of the exciting new Cultural Competency Kickstarter that all students are invited to take during their first term!Students will also hear their peers and other members of King’s community talk about what cultural competency means to them and how it can transform your time at King’s and beyond.
