For our next Alumni Breakfast, we welcome Dr Ylva Baeckstrom, Lecturer in Banking & Finance at King's Business School to discuss her recent research on the role of gender in finance.

Bringing her experience from banking, entrepreneurship, psychotherapy and academic research Dr Baeckstrom's research centres around the impacts that the gender of both individual investors and financial advisors have for how advisors make sense of the investment needs of their clients.

From an investor angle Dr Baeckstrom considers how investors feel about their own investment knowledge, confidence and risk tolerance in relation to the gender of their advisors. In her research Dr Baeckstrom collaborates with financial institutions in the UK, including some of the largest banks. Dr Baeckstrom places her research firmly on the opportunity that the rapid increase in female wealth has for business growth and how decreasing gender inequality is good for everyone.
