This is the inaugural symposium of the King's Race Research Network (KRRN), where we will collectively reflect on the theme of denial. Denial is increasingly recognised as one of the major obstacles to addressing systemic racial inequalities. Denial nurtures social discourses of colourblindness and ‘reverse racism’, thus significantly undermining the anti-racist cause. In public services, it operates very effectively to delay infrastructural investment and creates resistance to inclusion projects.

Agenda and schedule will be published in due course.

Speaker's info

Professor Camara Phyllis Jones is an authority on denial, and as we are lucky enough at King's to have her as a Visiting Professor this year, she has kindly accepted to give the symposium’s opening keynote talk.
