Veteran LGBT+ rights campaigner Peter Tatchell says equality is a laudable goal but not sufficient. Equal rights within a flawed status quo is not liberation. The goal must be to transform society, not to conform to it.
To this end, we need a critical, discerning attitude towards straight laws, institutions, and values. LGBT, heterosexual, and cis gender people have a shared interest in working together to secure a more emancipated society that will benefit us all.
