About this Event:

Have you thought about the differing experiences and needs of LGBTQ+ patients who may be in your care? Do you have any questions or concerns regarding dentistry and LGBTQ+ patients and colleagues? Have you been wondering how to make your module and practice more LGBTQ+ inclusive? 16point6 will be providing an informative and interactive workshop on LGBTQ+ Inclusion in Dentistry, centring transgender inclusion.

16point6 is an organisation established by medical student, Chloë Rogers, who identified gaps in the healthcare education system. Despite the increasing awareness of LGBTQ+ people and campaigns to improve inclusion within wider society, there was no formal teaching for students on how to address issues prevalent in the LGBTQ+ community. Nor was there teaching on how to address LGBTQ+ patients themselves. The LGBTQ+ Inclusion in Dentistry event hopes to work towards changing this culture of teaching. Encouraging a culture of equality, diversity, and inclusion in FoDOCS will help both staff and students become aware of the biases we share and aid us to work towards unlearning them so that the most beneficial, safe, and humanising patient care can be provided for all.

This event is open to all.
