How do you feel when you think about getting older?

Lifelines: Rethinking Ageing Across Generations, a new free exhibition at Science Gallery London, invites people of all ages to consider ageing as a lifelong process, rather than a phase of decline that happens towards the end of life.

Offering an open space for conversations across generations and complete with film, objects, photographs and animations highlighting our shared human experiences, Lifelines prompts us to address how inequalities impact health and quality of life in older age, and to consider what we can learn from one another. It assures us that together, we can creatively rethink ageing, embracing and preparing for the challenges, joys, and surprises of getting older.

“I think it would be much better to try and talk about enjoyable ageing, happy ageing […] What we don't hear about […] is that there is also joy in it […] We ought to have a society in which elderly people are given the opportunity to live their final years to the full.”

Participant, age 73

Explore Lifelines: Rethinking Ageing Across Generations and discover how science, medicine, wider culture, and policy contribute to how we understand ageing. Take time to reflect on what we can do to foster more inclusive stories and practices to improve experiences of ageing for everyone.
