Listening to Landscape book launch
Bush House, Strand Campus, London

The first book-length exploration of how English landscapes are represented in contemporary electronic and experimental music, Listening to Landscape by Professor Phil Hubbard ploughs its own furrow, combining ideas from psychogeography, hauntology and landscape studies to offer a distinctive take on the way contemporary music deals with the ghosts of an England that is fast disappearing.
This event will launch this new book with a discussion of the landscape turn in electronic music with Justin P. Hopper, Olver Cherer (Gilroy Mere), Jim Jupp (Ghost Box/Belbury Poly) and Frances Castle, preceded by a performance by Frances as The Hardy Tree. There will also be the debut of Stonecirclesampler's 'Old Haunts, Landscape Soundtracks', ambient music inspired by drifting through Hawksmoor's London in the footsteps of Iain Sinclair.
Light refreshments and drinks will be provided. The event will be in Bush House central block, 8th floor, north side, 30 Aldwych, London, WC2B 4BG (see map for entrance off Aldwych, directly opposite Kingsway).
