Join this lunch and learn to hear from Anne Marie Rafferty CBE, Professor of Nursing Policy at the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care, as she shares her tips into pursuing a long and successful nursing and midwifery career. Professor Rafferty will speak about the opportunities and obstacles that she faced and how she was inspired by her mentors during the course of her career. The event will include lunch, offering you the opportunity to socialise with fellow students and alumni to build contacts and develop your network.

Anne Marie Rafferty CBE
Anne Marie Rafferty is Professor of Nursing Policy, former Dean of the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Palliative Care, King’s College London. She is a historian, health workforce expert and policy researcher, first nurse to gain a doctorate (DPhil Modern History) from Oxford University. She was seconded to the Department of Health to work with Lord Ara Darzi on the Review of the NHS and awarded a CBE for services to healthcare in 2008. She served on the Prime Minister’s Commission on the Future of Nursing and Midwifery 2009-10 and been recipient of various awards; Nursing Times Leadership Award in 2014 and Health Services Journal Top 100 Clinical Leaders Award in 2015 and was inducted onto the Sigma Theta Tau International Hall of Fame in 2016.
She holds fellowships from the Royal College of Nursing, American Academy of Nursing. She was International Distinguished Bloomberg Visiting Professor at the University of Toronto 2013-4. She co-leads a Student Commission on the Future of the NHS supported by National Health Service England and was a member of the Parliamentary Review of Health and Social Care in Wales launched earlier this year by the Cabinet Secretary for Wales.
