Join artist and teacher Ann Witheridge from the London Fine Art Studios for a fun and creative drawing workshop.

In this one hour session, we will look at how the portrait can be sketched and drawn following some simple guidelines and lessons. We will look at the proportion of the head and features, a formula for the placement of the features and an analysis of what creates different expressions. This is a practical session and you can work in pairs or from your imagination. We will discuss why working from photographs is not as beneficial as working from life or your imagination, or other artists drawings.

Essential materials: Paper, sketchbook, pencils

Additional materials (if you have them): Toned paper, pencils (preferably soft, like 4b), pencil, sharpener, eraser, charcoal and chalk (to go with the toned paper)
