Methods in research grants

King's Building, Strand Campus, London

26NovA leaf on top on a laptop

The workshop will discuss evaluators' expectations for the method components in research grants and how to avoid methodological pitfalls. This is the latest in the SSPP Method Centre events series.

Are you grappling with how best to present methods in a research grant proposal? Have you had experience with reviewers misunderstanding the methods section or the research design? Are you unsure how best to embed methodological innovation in a project proposal?

Funders increasingly emphasise methodological innovation and rigorous research design. This workshop, hosted by the Methods Centre, aims to answer these and other questions you might have about methods in research grants. The workshop is designed to support researchers at all career stages in navigating the challenges of writing the methods section of a proposal.

In the first hour, we will offer some guidance on common pitfalls to avoid and on what reviewers typically look for in a strong methods section. In the second hour, we will look at some examples of method descriptions and reviewer evaluations together, with space for discussion and questions.

The workshop will take place in the River Room, King's Building, Strand Campus.

This event is for King's College London staff.

Please note that the workshop is in person only.
