Dr Gunter Kuhnle has a degree in Biochemistry from the University of Leipzig, Germany where he also did his doctorate on new methods to measure enzyme kinetics. He then joined the 'Antioxidant Research Group' at King's College London to investigate the metabolism of phenolic compounds and, after a brief time in industry, joined the Diet & Cancer Group at the MRC Dunn Human Nutrition Group in Cambridge where his research focused on the association between meat and cancer risk and in particular the development of nutritional biomarkers. Since 2010 Dr Kuhnle has been at the Department of Food and Nutritional Sciences, University of Reading where his research focuses on the development of objective measurements of dietary intake, in particular of phenolic compounds.
