At today’s HSCWRU’s 14th annual conference focusing on Older People’s Health & Social Care, 107 participants gathered online to hear and discuss recent insights into supporting people living with dementia and their carers. This joint event with Age UK London and the Greater London Forum for Older People is the Unit’s longest running event series, and brings together social workers, older people, their carers and advocates, and a wide range of other practitioners and researchers.

Unit researchers Katharine Orellana and Kritika Samsi shared the Unit’s recent research on Carers’ views and expectations of residential respite for people living with dementia; Phil Joddrell from the University of Sheffield presented new insights on Improving the accessibility of touchscreen computers for people living with dementia; Emma Wolverson from the University of Hull explored the importance and sensitivity of The language of behaviour changes in dementia. Participants thanked the speakers for a ‘thought provoking’ and ‘information packed’ session.
