Open Research Summer School 2025
Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN), Denmark Hill Campus, London

The King's Open Research Summer School returns for it's second year following bumper attendance (roughly 150 over the week) and encouraging feedback from it's launch last year.
Co-organised by the RIOT (Reproducible, Interpretable, Open, Transparent) Science Club and the Research Innovation Committee, and funded by the Health Science Doctoral Training Centre and the Research Culture Fund at King's College London, this year promises to be bigger than ever.
Here's a list of key highlights and what to expect.
- Talks and roundtable discussions: Hear from a broad range of speakers covering a variety of topics, including academic fraud, scholarly communication, questionable research practices, and open research practices. Speakers include Nick Wise, James Heathers, Nick Brown, Sarah Byford, Dale Barr, Ian Hussey and many many more!
- Hands-On Workshops: Engage in practical sessions on open data, reproducibility, p-curve analysis, error detection, and registered reports.
- Networking Opportunities: Connect with like-minded peers, potential collaborators, and thought leaders in the open science community over refreshments and lunch.
Who can attend?
It's free, and all are welcome - students, research or teaching staff, academics and research enablers (e.g., librarians, technicians) from all disciplines at any career stage. To secure your place, you are required to complete all the mandatory questions on the registration page.
Why attend?
The summer school will equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary for good quality research, career development, and development of collaborative links. Attending will help you make your research more open, reproducible, and impactful.
How can I attend?
Such events work best in-person, but we recognise that not everyone can join.
In person: All talks, roundtable discussions plus workshops and networking opportunities.
Online: All talks and roundtable discussions with priority given to questions from those in-person. You can spectate on the workshops, but hands-on support will not be available. There will also be no networking opportunities.
