This event seeks to provoke thoughtful and evidence-based debate on the recent agreements made by the UK government and the G7 on tackling tax avoidance by the largest multi-national companies like Amazon and Starbucks and ending the global race to the bottom through offshore havens. It will look to explore the commitments already made by the G7 and look ahead to the G20 later in October and discuss whether the UK government and international partners have been ambitious enough so far and will discuss Labour’s vision for global tax fairness.

Panellists:

  • George Dibb, Head of the Centre for Economic Justice, IPPR
  • Hon. Margaret Hodge MP, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Anti-Corruption and Responsible Tax
  • James Murray MP, Shadow Financial Secretary
  • Anna Turley, Campaigns Manager, APPG on Anti-Corruption and Responsible Tax, and former MP for Redcar (chair)
