The HEE/NIHR Pre-doctoral Clinical Academic Fellowship (PCAF) offer nurses, midwifes and other allied health professionals a two year fully funded fellowship during which they can gain the research skills and undertake preliminary work needed to apply for a funded PhD.

During the fellowship period the student continues working half of their time in their NHS role. The Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care (NMPC) is able to offer a structured programme of research training and support that would comprise the academic component of the PCAF.

Last year the majority of candidates who applied for the PCAF with our support were successful.

Nurses, midwives, other allied health professionals, clinical leaders, managers and education and training leads from King’s Health Partners and elsewhere are welcome to find out more at our workshop. We'll explain about the PCAF programme and how we can support potential PCAF fellows through the application process and beyond.

During the workshop you will:

  • Learn about the process of submitting a PCAF application
  • Hear from current PCAF fellows
  • Find out about the Faculty research themes and interests of our research active staff

The workshop will be followed by a lunch to which all NMPC academic and research staff are invited. This is an opportunity for people to network, identify possible PCAF supervisors, and explore research ideas in an informal setting.

The workshop will run from 10.00-12.30, followed by lunch from 12.30-14.00.
