A fundraising evening supporting the Regenerative Agroforestry Impact Network (RAIN) and psychedelic research at King's College London

A growing sense of disconnection seems tied to both the mental health and ecological crises. Cutting edge scientific research suggests the careful use of psychedelics can increase connection in a broad sense to core self, with others, and nature itself. Disconnection in a broad sense has been linked to depression, and psilocybin therapy works in part by facilitating increased connection. Psilocybin therapy has also been found to facilitate enduring, long-term increases in people’s nature relatedness or connection, or their self-identification with nature. This is strongly correlated with a broad range of measures of psychological well-being, acts as a mediator of some of the benefits gained when spending time in nature, and is a strong predictor of pro-environmental awareness, considered the strongest single psychological predictor. Given that we face a burgeoning mental health crisis, and a mass extinction event orchestrated solely by human actions on the biosphere…both of which appear to stem from a growing disconnection…could psychedelics play a remedying role in their potential as agents of (re)connection? - Dr Sam Gandy

The Maudsley Psychedelic Society is happy to host an evening with Dr Sam Gandy, ecologist and collaborator with the Psychedelic Research Group at Imperial College London. The event will include a presentation by Sam which will be followed by a discussion panel with Dr David Luke, Katherine Lewis, Dr Jacob Krzanowski, Danny Diskin and Matthew Green. During the panel, we will hold an audience Q&A, opening up the conversation to all those in attendance.
