We have an exciting event coming up in September in Brighton and Hove on the 21st, 22nd and 24th of September!

Laura Hughes will be hosting discussion group sessions at the Brighton and Hove Ageing Well Festival. We are working closely with Ageing Well Brighton and Hove who, together with Impact Initiatives, provide services and activities to older people living in Brighton and Hove. The Ageing Well Festival is a fantastic opportunity to engage with lots of different people, organisations, initiatives, and academics to find out what is being done in the local community to help older adults live and age well.

Laura has been invited to take part in the festival which has a theme this year of challenging ageism. This theme aligns closely with the work we are doing in the SAACY programme, so it will provide a perfect opportunity to engage with the public about the work we are doing and to gain insight into the needs of the community. Laura will give participants an overview of the work that we are doing in SAACY and present some of the preliminary findings from the pilot of her qualitative study. She will facilitate interactive group discussions with participants about what they want and what they think is needed in their community to help to tackle ageism. Discussions will also help to identify what aspects of ageing need to be addressed in ageing research.

The sessions will take place at the HOP 50+ café in Palmeira Square in Hove.
