Teamwork and resilience in intensive care: Insights from the FEARLESS ICU study
Dr Andreas Xyrichis, Reader in Interprofessional Science
Andreas will present on his latest study investigating interprofessional collaborative working in intensive care units (ICUs) using ethnographic methods as part of his NIHR-funded FEARLESS ICU (Fostering tEAmwork for ResiLiEnt Staff and Safe care in ICU) research project. FEARLESS employs rapid ethnography across multiple hospitals in England, coupled with interviews of health professionals, to understand the factors that influence interprofessional teamwork practices in UK ICUs. He will share insights on the study’s background, methodology, progress, preliminary findings and international collaborations arising from this line of research.
Andreas Xyrichis is a thrice King’s graduate (BSc Nursing, MSc Research, PhD Social Science) and a recognised thought leader in interprofessional education and collaborative practice, ranked in the top 2% of scholars worldwide by SciVal. His research programme investigates interprofessional collaborative practice in healthcare for safety, equity, and quality of care, securing over £1.6 million in external grant funding. Andreas serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Interprofessional Care, a Q1 journal widely regarded as the premier publication in this field of scholarship.
