Dr. Copeman has been Lecturer in Social Anthropology at the University of Edinburgh since 2009, having formerly been a Junior Research Fellow at Jesus College, Cambridge. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge. Copeman is the author of a special issue in Theory, culture & society on social theory after Strathern, a special issue in Contemporary South Asia on South asian tissue economies, and a special issue in Body & Society on Blood donation. His book, Veins of devotion: blood donation and religious experience in North India, was published in 2009.
