As part of an evening of solos, duos and ensemble repertoire, hear Sir Harrison Birtwistle's Five Lessons in a Frame which ‘frames’ the duets that he penned for London Sinfonietta musicians for the occasion of his 80th birthday concert. Alongside the iconic British composer's duo collection will be the world premiere of Edward Nesbit's work for viola and ensemble with London Sinfonietta Principal viola Paul Silverthorne. This commission marks Edward Nesbit's first Southbank Centre premiere as part of London Sinfonietta's Writing the Future scheme.
