The Study of Trauma and Recovery (STAR) Trial is a NIHR funded multi-site Randomised Controlled Trial of a new integrated trauma focused cognitive behavioural therapy for psychosis. The trial is running in London, Manchester, Oxford, Newcastle and Sussex. The trial is designed for adults who have been through a stressful or traumatic event(s) that still currently affects them and have problems such as hearing, seeing or feeling things other people can’t; have worries about being unsafe or persecuted; or other unshared or distressing beliefs.

Our primary research question:

Does integrated trauma-focused CBTp reduce post-traumatic stress symptoms in this group?

The launch event will involve several key addresses on the most recent and exciting development on the treatment of trauma in people with psychosis, including contributions from world leading academics (Prof Tony Morrison, Prof Richard Bentall, Prof David Kingdon), clinicians at the forefront of clinical innovations in this area (Dr Nadine Keen, Dr Amy Hardy) and also talks on the importance of this work in the context of the broader national picture / NHSE mental health strategy ( Dr Alison Brabban)
