Please join us for a webinar launching a new project on Wednesday 5th November 9am GMT; 12 midday Eastern African Time:
Strengthening community-rooted feminist organisations to address child marriage in crisis led by Dr Aisha Hutchinson (KCL) and Loveness Mudzuru (RMT)
This project builds on research completed by King’s College London (KCL), the Women's Refugee Commission (WRC) and Rozaria Memorial Trust (RMT), funded through the Call to Action on Protection from Gender-Based Violence in Emergencies, entitled ‘Integrating the response to child marriage in East Africa’.
During this webinar we will discuss how we plan to meet the first objective of the Feminist Vision to Address Child Marriage; ‘Feminist and women’s rights actors are well trained, well resourced and well positioned to transform practice and policies that drive humanitarian preparedness and response through local to regional spaces’. We will give an overview of the project and the three work strands, also enabling attendees to participate in wider discussions about strengthening community-rooted feminist organisations to address child marriage in crisis.
Contributions will also be made from Naver Chayelela from the Pan African Alliance on Ending Child Marriage, and Nana Ndeda from Girl’s Not Brides who will highlight the central role this objective plays in their organisations and why it is so important for the broader work being done to address child marriage across sub-Saharan Africa.
