If you have a specific question about the The David D. Caron Praelium, please contact Dr Federico Ortino.

The Center for International Commercial & Investment Arbitration at Columbia Law School, The Dickson Poon School of Law at King's College London, and Three Crowns are pleased to present The David D. Caron Praelium

The Praelium, first introduced in 2015, is an annual celebration of advocacy, with two leading international advocates deploying their oratorical and advocacy skills in the service of important current legal issues before a distinguished three-member tribunal.  The event has been renamed to honour the life and legacy of Praelium co-founder Professor David D. Caron, an individual of great humility and kindness whose distinguished career in international law will long serve as a source of guidance and inspiration.

This year, in commemoration of its inaugural session in the U.S., the Praelium will take place on the evening before the annual Columbia Arbitration Day. The Praelium will take place on Thursday 5 March 2020 at 18.00 at the Metropolitan Club (1 East 60th St) in New York City.

The two leading advocates are Christopher Harris QC (3 Verulam Buildings) and Kate Brown de Vejar (DLA Piper).

The distinguished tribunal will comprise Jean Kalicki (Kalicki Arbitration), Professor George A. Bermann (Columbia Law School), and The Honorable Charles N. Brower (20 Essex Street).

Registration will take place from 17.30 in the James Room. The event itself will begin at 18.00 and will be followed by a drinks reception from 19.30.

Guests are kindly encouraged to RSVP in advance, as space is highly limited.

Columbia Arbitration Day will take place on Friday, 6 March 2020, at Columbia Law School. Columbia Arbitration Day brings together scholars, practitioners, arbitrators, judges, and students for an annual discussion about the challenges that drive the international arbitration community. The theme for this year's conference is "Breaking New Ground in International Arbitration", and prominent speakers from all over the world will come together to discuss cutting-edge topics in the field.
