Join the Science Gallery London for a screening of The Directors: Mark, one of a series of five short films by artist Marcus Coates being screened for World Mental Health Day as part of a collaboration between Artangel and King's College London's Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN).

Produced by Artangel, The Directors is a collaboration between artist Marcus Coates and five individuals in recovery from different lived experiences of psychosis. Positioned behind the camera, each individual directed Coates in a filmed re-staging of particular episodes from their lives.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion exploring the role of the arts and artists in re-framing how people think about and discuss mental health. Chaired by Sophie Leighton, Director of Bethlem Gallery, the panel includes director Mark Banham; audiovisual artist and psychodynamic psychotherapist Stephen Rudder; and Dr Sotiris Posporelis, a neuropsychiatrist and senior lecturer at the IoPPN at King's.

*Please note that the film contains scenes which some viewers may find distressing. Personal experiences discussed in the film includes psychosis, hearing voices, paranoia, delusions, hallucinations, intrusive thoughts, obsessive compulsive disorder, suicide, self-harm and anxiety. Some of the films also contain strong language and sexual references. Viewer discretion is advised
