King’s College London Archives and the Sir Michael Howard Centre for the History of War are delighted to mark the long-awaited acquisition of the extraordinary diaries of Field Marshal Lord Ironside. These volumes cover almost the entire life and remarkable career of one of the most charismatic figures in the twentieth century British Army. Professor Sir Michael Howard targeted the Ironside papers when he first created the Liddell Hart Centre for Military Archives in 1964: after nearly 60 years, they are finally here.

Please join us on Tuesday 12 March at 17:30 in the Archives Reading Room, Strand Building (S3.02) to hear about this collection and its wider significance for the study of the history of the Second World War.

Speakers: Professor Jonathan Fennell (King's College London) and Professor Andrew Stewart (King's College London).
