In addition to marking the official launch of the Institute of Middle Eastern Studies at King’s College London, this conference forms part of Dr Fatima El-Issawi’s research project ‘Media and Transitions to Democracy: Journalistic Practices in Communicating Conflicts—The Arab Spring’ which is funded by the British Academy’s Sustainable Development Programme.
