The Nutrition Society: Phytochemicals and Health Symposium

Strand Campus, London

16MayA heart shape made of fruit and vegetables

While the role of nutrients in supporting life and the maintenance of health has long been established in the context of prevention of non-communicable diseases the role of plant food bioactives present is increasingly being recognised. This meeting aims to raise awareness of the evidence base supporting the health benefits of consumption of phytochemicals, derived from high quality observational and human dietary intervention studies.

The meeting supports the aims of the SIG namely to build a community of researchers working on a broad range of phytochemicals, from polyphenols, to carotenoids, to glucosinolates and beyond. It will serve as a platform for the members build connections for knowledge exchange. With anticipated attendees including academic researchers, healthcare professionals and the food industry we hope that the meeting will exhibit the breadth of work in the field and that it will raise awareness of this important field by showcasing impactful and translational research.
