This international workshop will be held at King’s College London on Saturday 24 November 2018 and seeks to examine the role of emotions both in- and outside the language classroom. It aims to contribute to a better understanding of their importance in anyone learning or teaching a language. The workshop’s contributions will focus on the interplay of emotions of both language learners and teachers, a highly relevant field in an increasingly pressurised academic environment. The role of teachers’ wellbeing as a crucial prerequisite for fruitful language teaching and learning will be discussed, aiming to shine a light on how educators can balance their emotions. Furthermore, language anxiety and possible ways to help students cope with it will be explored, while insights into links between e-Tandem learning and language enjoyment will be given as well.
