The European Union seems to persist in its efforts to shape the investment arbitration landscape, through a combination of political initiatives and Court of Justice (CJEU) case law. For instance, these relate to the termination of intra-EU Bilateral Investment Treaties, the negotiations for the establishment of a Multilateral Investment Court, and the modernisation of the Energy Charter Treaty.

This workshop will bring together scholars from King's College London and Paris Pantheon-Assas University, as well as practitioners, highlighting the different perspectives regarding investment arbitration on the two sides of the Channel. Beyond arbitration, the workshop will enable discussions regarding the role of the EU in global economic governance, and the relevance of the EU as a global actor.

We are delighted to confirm that the workshop will start with a keynote from Christopher Vajda KC, Monckton Chambers at 13:00 on 6 October.

Please note that the workshop will run from 13:00 to 19:00 on 6 October, and from 09:00 to 14:00 on 7 October 2022.
