King’s has five campuses in central London consisting of more than 100 buildings ranging in age from the 1780s to the current day. Many are listed and of great architectural significance. The Campus Projects and Minor Works team undertake the full project lifecycle for projects across all the KCL campus and estate.

About the role:

The Assistant Project Manager – MAC Specialist will play a vital role in planning, coordinating, and executing Moves, Adds, and Changes (MAC) projects across King’s College London. This role supports the Project Manager in maintaining a high standard of service delivery and compliance with health, safety, and accessibility standards. The successful candidate will ensure that all MAC activities are conducted with precision and efficiency, minimising disruptions and promoting

operational agility.

To work with the Asset Management and Engineering Directorate in the delivery of small to medium and strategic moves, adds, and changes (MAC) programmes. The Assistant Project Manager – MAC Specialist will play a vital role in planning, coordinating, and executing Moves, Adds, and Changes (MAC) projects across King’s College London. This role supports the Project Manager in maintaining a high standard of service delivery and compliance with health, safety, and accessibility standards. The successful candidate will ensure that all MAC activities are conducted with precision and efficiency, minimising disruptions and promoting operational agility.

You will liaise with key stakeholders on campus, building strong customer relationships and ensuring that the Fit for King’s culture is a continuous presence on site.

You will use your technical expertise to support the wider Asset Management and Engineering team in the delivery of projects across all campus. These projects will range from small and simple minor works to complex and high value strategic technical projects for the campus. The aim of these works is to continually improve the estate for our community, by creating environments which inspire and support learning and research, while protecting and honouring our heritage buildings.

The tasks will include collating papers for programme managers/stakeholders’ meetings and updates, chasing completion of tasks as requested and ensuring that all project staff are fully aware of deadlines well in advance, to maintain the campus master programme of projects, to present the data within and ensure reporting is up to an excellent standard.

About you:

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  1. Degree in relevant field or equivalent experience.
  2. Excellent oral/written communication skills, which can be adapted to reflect the audience.
  3. Demonstrated experience in project coordination and administration.
  4. Experience of managing consultants and contractors to deliver projects and managing conflicting demands of stakeholders in a customer-focused environment.
  5. Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative, and to prioritise workload whilst working to tight deadlines.  
  6. Flexible approach, comfortable with ambiguity and complexity, and able to prioritise work effectively within a broad programme.
  7. Good time management skills and able to set/meet deadlines for themselves and others.
  8. Familiarity with moves, adds, and changes (MAC) operations in an institutional or corporate environment.
  9. Proficiency in IT systems including Microsoft Office Suite, Unit4Business, e-Permits etc.

Desirable criteria 

  1. Interest in project management frameworks (waterfall, agile, etc.)
  2. Understanding of health, safety, and compliance standards in project environments.
  3. Interest in delivering projects that align with sustainability goals.
  4. Knowledge of signage, space planning, and optimisaation principles.
  5. A recognised qualification relevant to strategy development, project management, business planning, and/or risk management.
