About us

The Dickson Poon School of Law at King’s College London is one of the oldest law schools in England and recognised as one of the best law schools in the world.

We are based in the East Wing of Somerset House, a Grade One listed building, on our Strand Campus, a short walk from the Royal Courts of Justice and Inns of Court in the heart of legal London. Our location enables us to have excellent contacts with practitioners and policymakers, and we have a strong tradition of engagement with the legal profession.

About the role

The Student Support Advisor/s will play a key role in the provision of welfare, wellbeing and progress support of the Undergraduate students in the Dickson Poon School of Law.

We are seeking candidates with experience of working in student-facing role/s within a Higher-Education setting.  You will be highly organised, motivated, and able to work well in a team as well as independently with limited supervision. You will have a good understanding of the student lifecycle, safeguarding protocols, and experience of dealing with students who may be navigating complex difficulties, signposting to appropriate counselling and wellbeing services when appropriate.

The Student Support Advisors will work alongside a community of academic personal tutors to provide structured support for undergraduate students’ studies, helping develop their understanding of support mechanisms, and facilitating meaningful conversations to enhance their student experience.

The post-holder will work closely with the Senior Student Support Manager as well as a range of central teams, and is part of the Law School’s Education Team, which oversees programme delivery, student experience and engagement for our suite of taught programmes.

This is a new role that will contribute to how we shape the future of our vibrant and internationally renowned Law School. The responsibilities and focus of the role will evolve as we develop and refine our student support provisions within the faculty.

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), offered on an indefinate contract with an expectation of at least 2 days working on-campus per week, with potentially more at peak times.

We attract students and staff from across the world, from many different backgrounds, with a variety of ethnicities, religions, and sexual and gender identities, and we embrace equality, diversity and inclusion. We promote flexible working as a key enabler of inclusion, and particularly encourage and welcome applications from women, Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates, and from candidates who are LGBTQ+ and/or have a disability.
