The Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) is a leading centre for mental health and neuroscience research in Europe. Research from the IoPPN has made, and continues to make, an impact on how we understand, prevent and treat mental illness, neurological conditions and other conditions that affect the brain.

The Department of Psychological Medicine focuses on the interface between psychiatry and medicine, psychiatry and occupation, psychiatry and the military, and psychiatry in different settings. The disorders of interest are those of the common mental disorders, such as depression, anxiety, perinatal psychiatry, psychological oncology, eating disorders and stress related disorders.

About the role

The Stress, Psychiatry and Immunology (SPI) Lab, jointly with the Psychiatry Research Trust, is looking for an Engagement & Partnerships Managerwith relevant knowledge in dissemination and fundraising. The post holder will sit within the department of Psychological Medicine in the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience and will be involved in numerous research projects and relevant endeavours such as the digital magazine Inspire the Mind and the mental health-focused charitable organisation, the Psychiatry Research Trust.

The post holder will play an integral role in the dissemination and science communication of research for ongoing and new research projects led by Prof Carmine Pariante. In collaboration with the university press and communication teams, they will have a lead role in the development of communication strategy and project identities, including website development and social media channels, identification of partnerships and organisation of events. The post holder will also play a senior role in the dissemination and fundraising of the Psychiatry Research Trust.

This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract for 12 months.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  1. Marketing Qualifications: Hold a BSc or MSc in marketing, digital marketing, advertising, or an equivalent field.
  2. Communication Skills: Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, both internally and externally, to effectively communicate with team members, external stakeholders and the general public.
  3. Social Media Management: Have experience creating and managing content across various social media platforms, using performance analytics to optimise strategies and enhance audience engagement.
  4. Content Creation & Copywriting: Have experience in developing compelling written and visual content, including articles and email marketing campaigns, newsletters and infographics, tailored to engage diverse stakeholder groups within a defined target market.
  5. SEO & Digital Presence: Have experience at applying expertise in search engine optimization (SEO) to increase visibility and improve the online reach of our content.
  6. Event Coordination: Be able to successfully plan and execute events as part of the communication strategy or for fundraising in order to generate sustainability and project development.
  7. Fundraising: Evidence of successful fundraising through events, public campaigns, advertising and other initiatives.

Desirable criteria

  1. Passion for Mental Health & Science: Show a genuine interest in mental health, neuroscience, or related scientific topics, bringing knowledge and enthusiasm to content creation.
  2. Blog Writing: Have the ability to write engaging blog-style articles that communicate complex topics to a lay audience in an accessible manner.
  3. 1Website Development: Have experience in website design and/or creation to enhance digital presence.
  4. Multi-Project Management: Thrive in a fast-paced environment by efficiently managing multiple projects, covering a variety of topics and tasks.
  5. Team leadership: Ability to coordinate, supervise and mentor researchers and students dedicated to support the communication strategy.
