About the role:
Join a dynamic team dedicated to creating an exceptional campus experience at our university.
Role Overview: The role is responsible, for managing the operation of the electric vehicle fleet for the Estates & Facilities Directorate and the delivery of logistics services to campuses and residences, including Libraries & Collections.
Operational management includes contract management of vehicle and third-party logistics providers, ensuring accurate driving records are maintained and recorded and ensuring and checking all drivers using University vehicles are aware of the rules and responsibilities for doing so, including for health and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Fleet & Vehicle Management: Ensure vehicles are well-maintained, roadworthy, and compliant with statutory regulations. Manage maintenance schedules, servicing, and accident reports.
- Driver Compliance: Ensure authorised drivers complete necessary forms, training, and licence checks. Handle vehicle-related fines and compliance records.
- Logistics Coordination: Oversee daily logistics services for Libraries & Collections, arrange ad-hoc campus logistics (e.g., furniture moves), and manage vehicle rentals and third-party contracts.
- Data Reporting: Use Power BI to report on fleet performance, mileage, sustainability impact, and other key metrics.
- Team Management: Lead and develop a small team of drivers, ensuring they are well-trained, supported, and perform to high standards.

About You:
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
1. Experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams and with tight budgets and deadlines.
2. Experience of procurement processes including use of frameworks, preferably within the public sector
3. High level of literacy and numeracy
4. Computer literacy and use of full MS Office suite of application, including Power BI
5. Self-motivated and able to manage own workload to the University’s requirements.
6. Experience of managing service contractors
7. Experience of communicating with staff at all levels
Desirable criteria
1. NEBOSH/IOSH qualified and relevant experience and knowledge in Health & Safety
2. Educated to graduate level or equivalent professional qualification
