The Transformation Portfolio consists of several significant multi-million pound transformation initiatives supported by a set of highly interdependent programmes, projects, workstreams, teams and Boards.

We support hybrid working with a current requirement to be on campus three days per week.

About the role:

We are looking for a dynamic, creative and experienced Internal Communications Manager who will manage and support a wide range of internal communications within the Transformation Office, including providing support on transformation projects as appropriate.

Based in the Communications & External Affairs Directorate, the Communications Manager (Transformation Office) will work in close partnership with the Head of Communications, Portfolio Director, Transformation Office, and colleagues across the University to manage and deliver effective, engaging and timely communications.

This is a full time post, and you will be offered a fixed term contract as maternity cover, until 04/09/2026.

About you:

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  1. Excellent verbal and writing skills including compelling content creation, editing and proof reading to a high standard, across print and digital 
  2. Experience of planning and implementing communication strategies and plans working with a wide range of stakeholders 
  3. Ability to produce effective and tailored content for varied audience, across different channels in a timely fashion and evaluating their success 
  4. Experience of adjusting messaging, tones and styles for different internal and external audiences 
  5. Experience of influencing and negotiating with stakeholders, often beyond your immediate team, applying judgement and identifying solutions 
  6. Experience of absorbing, evaluating and translating complex information from various sources to create compelling stories for diverse audiences 
  7. Experience and skill in creating and managing web content and social media channels within a content management system and/or use of HTML 
  8. Self-motivated, results oriented and with a ‘can do’ attitude, where there is a willingness and ability to adapt quickly and responsively to changing priorities

Desirable criteria

  1. Experience of working in higher education or large matrix organisation 
  2. Understanding of change communications
