About the role:

The successful postholder will play a vital role in supporting both the day-to-day research activities and the administrative functions associated with research grant management.

The research focuses on understanding the **development and intergenerational transmission of anxiety and depression.**The Research Assistant will contribute to a range of tasks including participant communication, data collection, dissemination of findings, and operational tasks such as purchasing, supporting the management and monitoring of expenditure against research budgets, and assisting with grant reporting. This varied role is well suited to someone who enjoys working collaboratively in a research environment and is interested in gaining experience in both scientific and administrative aspects of academic research.

This is a part time post (21 Hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 30/09/2026. Please note that as the role is part time, the salary displayed below will therefore be amended accordingly (pro rata).

About you:

Essential criteria

  1. Undergraduate degree in psychology, social sciences, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  2. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  3. Experience working in an academic or research environment
  4. Experience with participant or stakeholder communication
  5. Experience with administrative tasks such as record-keeping or purchasing
  6. Understanding of confidentiality and data protection in research
  7. Strong written and verbal communication skills
  8. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Desirable criteria

  1. Experience supporting research grant management or monitoring budgets 
  2. Familiarity with research ethics and procedures involving human participants 
  3. Experience depositing research outputs or working with open access policies 
  4. Confidence using databases or digital tools for research administration 
  5. Interest in mental health research and working in a research environment
