About us
King’s Foundations is a department within the Centre for International Education and Languages (CIEL) which provides high-quality international pathway, academic skills and English language preparation courses for King’s students. Our mission is to enable and empower students to be the best they can be as part of a world-leading university. Valuing diversity, inclusivity, and cultural competency, we provide an outstanding student experience that integrates academic excellence with comprehensive support. We are a team of around 115 colleagues (increasing to over 150 in the summer months) committed to achieving this mission. The department has an annual turnover of around £30 million.

This is a full time post (35 hours a week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- Relevant postgraduate degree relevant to the area of teaching specialism (e.g. Business Management, Economics, Social Science, TESOL/Applied Linguistics etc.).
- Relevant Level 7 teaching qualification (e.g. Cambridge DELTA, PGCE).
- Knowledge of innovative and effective approaches to personal tutoring which support students in succeeding at a UK higher education institution.
- Experience of dealing confidently and sensitively with complex student welfare cases and advising Personal Tutors on how to support and signpost international students to appropriate services.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and take an active role in departmental line management activities.
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting and implementing the values of equality, diversity, and inclusion in education.
- Evidence of successfully collaborating with a range of stakeholders, including academics, professional services staff and the student body to achieve excellent outcomes for students and the department.
- Hold fellowship status of HEA or willing to work towards achieving this.
Desirable criteria
