Building on the success of its Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021 submission, which saw King’s College London ranked 3rd on impact amongst multi-faculty universities and the maintenance of the power ranking of 6th, we are recruiting a REF Impact Officer to join our team to support the development of the Engagement and Impact submission to REF2029.
About the role
The successful candidates will sit in the REF, KEF and Research Impact team and work with the two REF Impact Officers already in post (who support Main Panels A and D) and the Research Impact Lead team.
One role will support the units of assessments aligned with REF Main Panel B (Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences - managed by Verity Buckley ) and one role will support those units aligned with Main Panel C (Social Sciences - managed by Natalie Wall ).
Both roles will provide professional services support for all aspects of the planning and delivery of the Engagement and Impact submission.
This includes supporting the processes for identifying and preparing impact case studies and collating evidence of impact.
They will maintain internal resources for impact (including internal communication channels) and will provide support as required to impact-related groups and events.
This is a full time (35 hours per week) role and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
The opportunity is available to work in a hybrid way, with an expectation of a minimum of five days per month on campus but attending campus as and when required to perform the role effectively.

About You
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
1. Educated to degree level or comparable work experience.
2. Experience of research support, preferably with some understanding of knowledge exchange and/or research impact.
3. Administrative experience in the Higher Education sector, ideally in an impact, knowledge exchange, communications or research area.
4. Excellence IT skills, including database systems, spreadsheets and word processing.
5. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and appropriately to stakeholders at all levels – both academic and Professional Services colleagues.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
7. Experience of balancing competing, shifting priorities under pressure of deadlines and workload.
8. Experience of supporting meetings, including note taking or minuting meetings.
9. Experience of desk-based research, analysis and synthesis of information.
10. Accuracy and attention to detail.
Desirable criteria
1. Familiarity with the Research Excellence Framework.
2. Familiarity with the collection and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data.
3. Familiarity with the disciplinary areas represented within the Main Panel area.
